Purpose and application
This acceptable use policy protects customers, networks, and the public. It applies to customers, users, and anyone accessing an Octet service through a customer account.
Illegal and harmful activity
- Do not use services to violate law, court orders, or another person’s rights.
- Do not facilitate fraud, exploitation, credible threats, harassment, or unlawful content.
- Do not create unreasonable risk to people, property, network operations, or public safety.
Security and network abuse
- Do not attempt unauthorized access, scanning, interception, exploitation, or testing.
- Do not distribute malware, operate malicious command infrastructure, participate in denial-of-service activity, spoof traffic to conceal abuse, or defeat security controls.
- Do not interfere with another user or unreasonably degrade shared resources.
Messaging and content
- Do not send unlawful unsolicited bulk messages or use deceptive headers or harvested lists.
- Do not infringe intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, or trade-secret rights.
- Operators of public systems must maintain reasonable abuse-reporting processes.
Customer responsibilities
Maintain secure credentials, current software, appropriate access controls, accurate contacts, backups, and a continuity plan. Respond promptly to operational and abuse notices and cooperate with reasonable mitigation.
Enforcement
Octet may investigate suspected violations and proportionately filter, quarantine, rate-limit, suspend, or terminate affected service when reasonably necessary to protect customers, infrastructure, or the public, comply with law, or address a material violation. Urgent threats may require immediate action.
Reporting and changes
Report suspected abuse to hello@octet.network with relevant IP addresses, timestamps, and concise evidence. Do not include passwords. We may update this policy as threats, technologies, and legal requirements evolve.
